Automation Technician - Pampa / OKC HR7-00227

Job Purpose


General Overview:

Automation technicians are responsible for the installation, operation and maintenance of computer and robotic systems used in the manufacturing sector. They must be proficient in multiple skill clusters including electricity and electronics, fluid power, mechanical systems, robotics systems, and manufacturing processes. Will perform administration, configuration, design, maintenance, programming and qualification of various systems, while also troubleshooting any issues that might occur.

Key Duties & Responsibilities


  • Assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation and modification of systems

  • Communicate status, manage expectations, resolve issues and insure top-quality service

  • Work with team members, site customers and leadership on assigned projects

  • Provide expertise to continue advancement of automated systems throughout a site

  • Install, maintain and inspect control system and workstation installations throughout a facility

  • Inspect and review manufacturing equipment installations for design and troubleshooting purposes

  • Ensure machines are properly calibrated

  • Provide technical and business guidance to Plant Management regarding automation and/or robotic requirements.

  • Provide system operation training on the assigned automation systems

  • Provide troubleshooting and maintenance support for all assigned automated systems potentially at all hours depending upon plant schedule

Required Skills/Experience

Education and Training

  • Associates degree in Automation Technology or Mechatronics is preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in automation, control systems and/or robotics in a manufacturing environment. .

General Requirements

  • Analytical skills – effectively analyze data sets to draw conclusions and make the correct evaluation of procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

Technical Requirements / Skills

  • Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, programmable logic controllers, electrical circuits, and electrical machinery.

  • Proficient Math and Analytic Skills are essential to understand automated systems and isolate problems.

  • Proficient with various instruments and hand tools, such as electrical multimeter.

  • Problem solving abilities – in designing processes, will need to identify problems before or as they occur, such as safety issues and problems related to the manufacturing.

  • Interpersonal skills – able to develop strong relationships with colleagues to collaborate successfully on projects and developing production processes.

  • Detail oriented – must possess great attention to detail in order to spot inaccuracies and faults, and find solutions to them


    • Strong math, computer and electronics skills; ability to work with hand tools and various instruments.

    • Preferred experience with Doosan, Fanuc and ABB industrial automation equipment and software platforms.

    • Preferred experience with Solidworks and Autocad 3D design softwares.

     Certificates, Licenses & Registrations

    • CAD, CAD/CAM, Circuit Design

    Work Authorization / Security Clearance

    • Authorized to work in the United States

    • Able to meet ATF & regulatory security requirements
